House of Thai Taste Restaurant
12824 Venice Blvd
Los Angeles, CA 90066
House of Thai Taste Restaurant is located on the south/east corner of Venice Blvd and Beethoven street in Los Angeles. There is seating inside for a couple of dozen people. Parking is available in a parking lot behind the restaurant accessible off Beethoven Street.
My friend and music business colleague MC Lars recently moved to Los Angeles and suggested we grab a bite for lunch. As luck would have it, he moved to a neighborhood I’m familiar with – and one that’s loaded with quite a variety of restaurants. Lars suggested we give House of Thai Taste Restaurant a try and I was more than willing to roll the dice.
Parking was easy in the small lot behind the restaurant. The spaces were a little tight but parking is at a premium in this neighborhood so any parking is good parking. The restaurant has a cozy mom-and-pop vibe – not plush but quite comfortable. We were greeted by an employee and quickly seated. Our drink order was taken – I opted for my usual Diet Coke and Lars ordered an interesting looking Thai Iced Tea that Lars tells me has a bit of a spicy flavor.
For lunch I ordered the “Pad Thai Lunch Special” ($6.95). The lunch specials come with your choice of chicken, beef and veggie dishes, steamed rice, a small salad and an egg roll. The portions were generous and the presentation was quite nice on the plate. The Pad Thai was mild and perfect for my taste. The egg roll was good and the large pile of rice was cooked just right. The salad came with a sesame dressing that I didn’t love, but it was a nice bonus with the meal.
I really enjoy discovering new places and restaurants like House of Thai Restaurant are just what I am looking for. A great little lunch for cheap with fast friendly service. Turns out Lars knows his stuff and made a GREAT suggestion. Good food, good conversation and a fun time make this place a winner. 4.5 Pigs!
