BJs Brewery Del Amo Mall – Dine In American – Torrance – Review

BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse
3525 W Carson St Suite 168
Torrance, CA 90503

BJs Restaurant & Brewery is located on the south/east corner of the Del Amo Mall near P.F. Changs, Stacked and the AMC Movie Theaters. BJs shares the same parking lot as many of the most popular restaurants and attractions so be warned – parking can be challenging at peak times. You enter the restaurant through a revolving door and are greeted at a hostess desk. Seating inside is a mixture of booths and small tables. There is a full bar with plenty of specialty beers. Food ranges from tacos to BJs signature pizza to specialty desserts. Lunch specials run from 11:00AM to 3:00PM Monday to Friday.

CARL: I’ve been to BJs several times and I had a nice experience there each time. Previously I was there with a group and we ordered pizza to share so I hadn’t paid too much attention to the rest of the menu. On this trip, with our Lunch Pig “Ten Dollar Mandate” I took a look at the menu in a different way. I started with the lunch specials that are available from 11:00AM-3:00PM Monday to Friday. I was pleasantly surprised to find a broad range of choices starting at a very reasonable $5.95. I debated between the Chicken Quesadilla, the Parmesan Crusted Chicken Sandwich and the Half Flatbread Pizza and Salad from the “BJs Enlightened Menu” ($6.95). What caught my eye was the 455 calorie count on this entree compared to the 1650 calorie count on the Parmesan Crusted Chicken Sandwich. I could eat THREE of these lunches and still come out ahead of that sandwich. Since I’m watching the calories this was an easy choice for me. Oliver ended up ordering the Parmesan Crusted Chicken Sandwich but he can use the extra calories as he is in much better shape than I am!

The Flatbread Pizza featured small bits of chicken, thinly sliced onion bits, small chunks of peppers and a very very light sauce. The size of the pizza was about 4″ x 7″ – not quite enough on its own but with the salad, it was a filling combination. The salad wasn’t remarkable with its vinaigrette dressing, sliced carrots, cucumber, and tomato slices but I must say the presentation of the salad and the lunch as a whole was very impressive for such a bargain lunch. Overall the experience was quite good, the service was a touch slow (but it was peak lunch time on a Friday) but in the big picture I was pleasantly surprised. Quality ingredients, nice presentation, pleasant atmosphere and a good value for the money earn BJs 4.5 Pigs. I’ll be back!

OLIVER: This was my first time here, it is  a nice upscale decor that is comfortable and inviting. We were quickly bjs-brewry-chicken-parmesanseated and given the menu’s. I went to the lunch menu after giving the regular menu a look over to get a feel of what was their specialty. After looking I decided the Chicken Parmesan Sandwich with wedge cut fries was for me. The meal came quickly and looked great, it looked really great. It was a good size portion and looked like it could have cost several dollars more. The wedge cut fries were very tasty, good seasoning and a good texture through it. The sandwich had excellent taste, it was a good amount, and low cost. $6.50 for this meal really makes you feel like you are getting your monies worth.
